Home Transition Guidance
facilitating age-related and life‑event choices

Age-related changes and life events can throw homeowners into the complex, overwhelming challenge of needing a change of housing. Guidance and support based on deep experience, a broad scope of knowledge and a holistic, collaborative attitude is a lifeline. This is what I provide.
Relocating in later life is difficult.
Whether it is a sudden, crisis-driven change or something under consideration for a long time, relocating in later life is overwhelming on both a physical and mental level.
Managing your “stuff” is huge, and figuring out the steps to get moved and get a house sold can be massive as well. It’s all very emotional.
Frequently, the family members you wish could help are not accessible. You need a trustworthy advocate, guide and project manager.

I’m Rachel, your transition guide...
I bring clarity, relief from stress, information, community resources, a great process …and a sense of humor to your journey.
First I listen deeply and look carefully. My work is to assess and clarify what you want, need, have, and have capacity for. Then I draw on my knowledge and collaborative resources to help you move forward.
Together, we determine the help you need, create and meet milestones to move you from where you are stuck, to where you want to be — leveraging your current property to best meet your needs!

You’re in charge. I help.

More about Rachel

I was raised on a sheep ranch in Minnesota at the edge of the Red River Valley basin with Canada a stone’s throw to the north. A farmer’s daughter then, and still. My parents, born in 1914, worked for social justice their whole lives. My social activism is my fiercely respectful support for older adults in transition around housing.
My knowledge comes from many sources. My parents, 46 years old at my birth, lived 80 and 95 years – a big impact on me. I worked in Holistic Health for 20+ years, and now as a residential realtor since 2004. I was certified as a Seniors Real Estate Specialist® in the first class offered in Oregon. During the “bubble” in 2009, I developed a program helping older adults transition from family homes to senior housing – collaborating with many professions. I then spent 9 years as a mortgage loan office for seniors.
Now I bring my breadth of knowledge, experience and a holistic approach to you – as your guide and advocate.

Along with all that experience, I’ve educated myself, drawing on the trade journals of my industries, and data about the economics of aging. I’ve learned about the health impacts of inadequate housing, loneliness, and financial stress. I know that the right home for us as elders provides access to community, a physical space we can move in securely, affordability and community – offering company, collective bargaining and support.
I have a BS in communications and business management. I’m certified in various Realtor specializations – EcoBroker, At Home With Diversity, Negotiations Specialist – besides the SRES®. I completed the training for Luxury Home Marketing. I’ve been a member of the Oregon Gerontology Association for many years, and involved with the Village movement here in Oregon since it’s inception. I volunteer for HomeShare Oregon.
I LOVE my work. I love problem solving, creating a collaborative team of helpers, educating and being an advocate and friend.
You don’t have to do this alone!
Let’s get a plan in place.
And good people to help you.
